The New Structure

We give research a "home"!

A great deal of important research has been carried out by GIMEMA. The GIMEMA name appears more and more frequently in international scientific journals of repute. Apart from the hope that this gives in the search for new, innovative and improved therapeutic strategies for the future, this is something that Italy can be proud of.

Planning and coordinating clinical trials requires an extremely professional, highly computerized and multidisciplinary operational structure. Doctors, biologists, project managers, computer experts, data managers, statisticians and lawyers need to collaborate at the highest levels in an ancient discipline that is finding new ways of working in order to remain efficient and competitive in the search for a better cure, or at least a cure, for those who are ill.

In order for research to take place, AIL has financed the construction of a modern and efficient headquarters for the GIMEMA Data Centre.

The Pantanella Complex

The complex, which was in a state of complete neglect, was subject to a "change of use and conversion", a project begun almost a decade ago by the property company Aqua Marcia,in agreement with Rome's City Council.
The City Council has decided that the former biscuit factory building, named "F/G", should be given on gratuitous loan for use to the non-profit Italian Association against Leukaemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma.
An extension of the biscuit factory, the building is made up of a management office on three floors adjoined by a warehouse made of reinforced concrete with a metal roof.
The building, which has recently been restored, has housed the new AIL offices since May 2006..

Since 2008 the warehouse space has also been available for use, assigned by AIL for use by GIMEMA as its new headquarters and as a multipurpose room seating around 200, with a reception space, a lobby and toilets. Work on the GIMEMA offices has been funded by the solidarity of AIL supporters through their fundraising campaigns (Rai and Mediaset telethons, in collaboration with the main telephone companies); by contributions from the main banking institutions and the generosity of many provincial AIL offices.

The Conference Room

When the new GIMEMA headquarters was being built, AIL took the opportunity to build a prestigious conference room with the aim of hosting national AIL conferences, patient seminars, and GIMEMA Data Centre meetings. Given the extraordinary functionality of the space and the outstanding design, the room is also available for companies wishing to use it for their own conference events.
Booking the AIL conference room is a new and original way of supporting Research.
